Finding Renewal at the 2026 Connecticut Catholic Men’s Conference

I have often noticed that there are moments in every man’s life when he senses that something important is broken. Sometimes it is his prayer life, or perhaps a strained marriage. Often, it is the quiet, heavy realization that his children are drifting from the Catholic faith, or that he himself has grown spiritually tired. When that happens, it seems to me that many men begin asking a deeper question: Lord, where do I begin? 

That simple question lies at the heart of the 2026 Connecticut Catholic Men’s Conference. This year, the theme is “Rebuild My Church”. These are the exact words Jesus spoke to St. Francis of Assisi as he prayed before the crucifix in the chapel of San Damiano. At first, Francis thought he was being asked to repair a small church building. Only later did he understand that Christ was calling him to help renew the entire Catholic Church—beginning with his own conversion. 

Spiritual Renewal Starts with One Man

The Church is rebuilt one man at a time. It happens when a husband loves his wife more faithfully. It happens when a father begins praying with his children. It happens when a man returns to Confession after years away, and when a Catholic rediscovers the power of the Eucharist. St. Francis was not a bishop or a theologian; he was a layman who simply said yes to God. That "yes" changed history. 

Facing Our Own "Lepers"

Perhaps we should consider one of the most powerful stories from the life of St. Francis, which involves a leper. Initially, Francis was repulsed and wanted to turn away. Instead, he dismounted from his horse, approached the leper, and kissed his hand. In that moment, what had once seemed bitter became sweetness. 

Every man has his own "leper"—it might be a difficult responsibility, a broken relationship, a hidden sin, or an area of life he has simply been avoiding. Real conversion begins when we stop turning away and move toward the place where Christ is asking us to trust Him. 

Why We Gather in Brotherhood

St. Francis did not rebuild the Church alone; he gathered brothers. One of the greatest gifts of this conference is the reminder that no Catholic man is meant to walk alone. We need other faithful men to encourage us, pray with us, and hold us accountable. 

This gathering offers a full day of spiritual renewal, Eucharistic Adoration, Confession, Holy Mass, and fellowship with hundreds of other men striving to live their faith. Many attendees say they leave with renewed hope and a stronger desire to become better husbands, fathers, and disciples of Jesus Christ.
